On May 11th Kathy and I met with Dr. Keiser
to discuss my receiving my infusions here in Santa Rosa. I had not seen him since I completed my
arsenic treatment in 2008, but it seemed like it had just been last week. I am so lucky to have such good doctors to
care for me. Dr. Keiser stated in sports
terms that Dr. Martin would be the Coach “calling the plays” and his task was
to carry out those plays. That meant starting
with having a port implanted to save my veins and allow better access for blood
draws and the daily infusions. Last
Wednesday I went to Memorial Hospital to receive my new port. This one was put on the left side, so I will
now have matching left and right scars from the implants.
I will start my next ten days of infusions on
Thursday, May 24th, my granddaughter’s 18th birthday. Don’t know if that carries any significance,
but I’ll take it as a good sign.
