Long day at the hospital clinic

Kathy and I were back to see Dr. Martin on last Wednesday the 2nd.  My counts were pretty low and dropping, so I was scheduled to go back to the clinic yesterday for another check.  I did need to get a unit of red cells.  It turns out all the transfusions I have had over the years has made my blood sensitive to several antibodies and so it is harder to find a good transfusion match.  The day went from a possible three to four hour event to an eleven hour marathon. My sister Mary and Robin came by thinking they might be a able to catch a few minutes with me before I was released, instead they spent a couple of hours visiting!  Steve took me down for a 9 a.m. appointment and hung in there until the last drop of blood at 8 p.m.  - even letting me win several card games.
