On April Fools Day my counts were at 17 so the harvest was on. I was not able to get into the center until afternoon, so the results were not available that day. The following morning, my two nurse practitioners, Lisa and Michael, walked into my room beaming. They had harvested over 30 million per kilogram of body weight. The goal had been 5 to 10 million. So I was ready to go home!
They took out the Quinton catheter, finished up an IV drip and removed the PIC line in my arm and I was free. Matt was there to take me home. We met up with Frances for dinner on the way home. It was good to be in my own bed that night. I found I was still reaching for the IV pole when I went to get out of bed. I guess after 25 days things become a habit.
It is good to be home to rest and to share in special times with good friends. I will be home until about May 18th. Then back into the hospital for about a month for the transplant. I will be updating the blog again as anything new develops in my treatment.
Thank you for all of your good thoughts, messages and prayers. They gave me hope and comfort through this journey.
My love to all of you,
Dianne
