Start of week two

It was a week today that Wendy drove me down for admission. I finished my chemotherapy Saturday night. Some of the side effects started showing up on Friday. Some nausea and GI issues (won't go into details!).

The ARA-C is causing painful blisters on my hands and feet. Saturday night was the worst. I had been walking the ward three times a day for a total of a mile. Saturday I missed the mid day walk, but was feeling better with the pain killers they were giving me, so did the evening stroll. I paid for it with a night that never got totally pain free.

My nurse pulled out some more treatment for the feet and they have really helped. I am getting medicated soaks and ointment wraps at night. Sunday was much better and I exercised a little smarter. Did laps only to minimal pain and did chair and bed exercises.

Now that that is out of the way – the good news is that I am still feeling pretty good. Some general fatigue, but not bad - I can nap whenever I want. My counts continue to go down. The chemo will continue to do its thing for another two weeks. So I had better enjoy these “good” days.

I want to update the blog more frequently, but won’t promise anything. Between sometimes limited access and limited motivation, days pass. If you want to stay in touch more often, always feel free to call me (hospital 415.514.5336) or send me an email dianne1017@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you.
